Green Cay Wetlands

City: Palm Beach County

GPS: N26 29.156 W80 09.815

Green Cay Wetlands is the second Wastewater Treatment Facility operated by Palm Beach County. It is larger and newer than Wakodahatchee and has to be the most “plush” facility I have seen. It too has a boardwalk that leads you through the different areas. You can find most of the same species here as at Wakodahatchee although I have never found Least Bitterns nesting at Green Cay. It is not unusual to find one location busy and the other one dead.

The following link will take you to the Palm Beach County website which has more information about the facility. http://www.pbcgov.com/waterutilities/waterfacts/green_cay.htm

Directions: From I-95 exit on Atlantic Blvd in Delrey Beach and head west. Turn right on to Hagen Ranch Roadand and head north. You will find the entrance on the right side of the road. The entrance may be a little deceiving. It is a large gated entrance that at first glance may appear like the entrance to a mansion or ritzy gated community. Remember I said this was the plushest facility I had seen.
